Marcala Bilingual School’s 9th grade students completed hygiene presentations in 5 rural schools in Opatoro, Honduras today and yesterday. They talked with students about how to correctly brush their teeth, wash their hands, and other tips on reducing germs. Each student received packets filled with a toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, soap, and comb. They also played a game where glitter, representing germs, was transmitted between students by handshakes. The bilingual high schoolers also volunteered as translators for U.S. volunteers who were in schools building hand-washing stations and bathrooms.
