Today was the second group of Honduran student teacher volunteers who went to remote village El Potrero, Santa Elena in La Paz. The student teachers are in the class of Professor Tania Suazo who tries to give her students a chance to view the various conditions of education in Honduras. The class selected El Potrero for it’s extreme poverty and rural location. There are 112 students this year in grades K-9, with two teachers. Chispa Project partnered with the student teachers volunteers to provide 100 books for the school, and the teachers brought piñatas and school supplies to celebrate the local children.
