Denver Highlands Church Visits Opatoro
In the first days of June, we welcomed the Highlands Church from Denver. For the last few years, they have been coming to Honduras working on a variety of projects. After long layovers and a missed flight or two, the group made it to Tegucigalpa and were eager to take the four hour drive into the Honduran mountains right away!
This group has been key in helping us set up our library projects by bringing boxes full of books packed away in their suitcases. On this trip, they brought hundreds of books that will be a part of our Mobile Libraries and Lending Libraries.
This being the group’s fourth trip to Florida, community members were also excited to welcome them back. The bonds formed through week-long trips have grown stronger over the years. These were only made even stronger after the group spent this visit building “pilas” (cement basins) for over 30 families. Working with local construction workers and with beneficiary families, members of the Highlands Church were able to pick up conversations from the previous year as if no time had passed.
We would like to say thank you to the Denver Highlands Church for their constant support! The communities in Opatoro are very thankful for your help!
We are always happy to receive visiting groups. If you would like to support Chispa Project through a volunteer trip, get in touch! We will make sure your trip will have an impact in the communities and families you visit and a long-lasting memory for you as well.
