Love sharing the gift of reading with others? This is your chance to be part of a rapidly growing organization that partners with Honduran schools to open children’s libraries throughout the country. This is an opportunity for anyone with a passion for reading, libraries, and working with the youth in Honduras.
Organization Description
Chispa Project is 501(c)(3), a not-for-profit organization based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Our mission is to spark a culture of reading through student access to books in Honduras. To date, we’ve donated over 70,000 to 90+ different schools across the country. Chispa Project works with Honduran educational institutions to spark a passion for learning that will grow and be nurtured within the local communities, with a vision to enhance the quality of life in Honduras.
Role Description
This is a remote, volunteer Board Member role at Chispa Project. The Board Member will be responsible for overseeing the organization's operations, providing strategic direction, and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards. The Board Member will also be expected to attend online board meetings, participate in discussions, and contribute to decision-making processes.
Qualifications
Chispa Project is seeking board nominees with previous Board Member experience, and skills in at least one of the following areas:
Finance / Accounting
Fundraising / Grant-writing
Marketing / Communications
Nonprofit Management
Fluency in Spanish and/or experience in Honduras is a plus!
**The typical onboarding process takes 2- 6 months.
Responsibilities
Share your unique skills, experiences, and network to advance Chispa Project’s mission
Understand the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and by-laws.
Prepare for and attend bi-monthly board meetings, committee meetings, or special events.
Serve on at least one committee or task force.
Actively participate in fundraising activities.
Serve as active advocate and ambassador for the organization to raise visibility, fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission.
