Our 2024 Libraries Are Complete!
It has been a busy year at Chispa, and we’re excited to share our progress with you! So far, we've completed 6 library installations, created 24 Reading Corners, and launched the new Reignite program!
Some of our Key Firsts of 2024 were:
Our first All-Girls School Library: In collaboration with the US Embassy in Honduras, we’re empowering 680 young women through literacy.
2-in-1 Installation: We painted and set up 2 libraries in one volunteer trip!
Child Aid Partnership: In a pilot program, we are providing specialized literacy coaching for our teachers, using a model from Guatemala.
Reading Corners Network: We established reading corners with 100 books in each classroom of 4 rural elementary schools through a collaboration with Summit, Honduras.
Launching the Reignite Initiative: We’re reconnecting with 5 schools in our network to analyze and promote the long-term sustainability of our previous libraries. This Reignite Initiative will help us understand better the daily usage of books and how to best support our teachers.
For the rest of the year, we'll continue to support library committees and teachers at all of our 2024 schools to maximize the benefits of their new, and renewed, libraries. Follow us on social media for more updates!
